One of the biggest decisions we make in our lives is the one regarding our careers. A career defines who you are and the person you envision yourself to be. It is not only about employment but rather the establishment of a relationship between yourself and an employer.

Where you work is where you will spend most of your time; there’s a lot of energy and passion; there’s a lot of give and take and you want to make sure that you are committed to the right working environment for you. At NMB, we believe in nurturing talent and most of all, we believe in bringing in people who are eager and driven by an innovative and creative spirit to bring financial solutions in our journey to reach each and every Tanzanian.

To accomplish this, the bank’s Head of Human Resources; Centre of Expertise, Joanitha Rwegasira Mrengo has ambitions to successfully provide what the organization needs. Bestowed upon her is the leading role to develop talent- especially recruiting and developing young talent. Passionate about the youth of Tanzania, Joanitha believes in the local talent in the country and in the diaspora and the role they have to play in the development of our country and the bank.

On top of her agenda is NMB Bank’s Management Trainee Program- a 24 month program aimed to attract and recruit top graduates from key universities locally and internationally and fast track their skills development required for them to take up identified key roles and grow within the bank.

Talking more about the program and the plans HR has for this year, Joanitha said “My vision is to ensure that we strengthen the future leadership bench, today’s early career professionals and fresh graduates, the so-called generations Y (millennials) and Z, are critical to NMB’s digital and innovation power.”

She added: “Living the digital life, very different from previous generations, they can make a difference in NMB’s digital transformation, applying lateral thinking to our ways of working and having unconventional, forward-thinking ideas. Their knowledge and enthusiasm can nurture the digital mindset with our staff, instigating and supporting (more senior) colleagues in adopting a digital lifestyle, for example exploring and stimulating the use of new ICT applications in the management system, growing curiosity for new apps and technological innovations”.

Bringing awareness to the Management Trainee program which commences in September 2018, NMB will be holding a Career Fair at the University of Dar es Salaam,  Friday June 22, 2018. The event brings an opportunity to UDSM students to meet NMB’s Head: Center of Expertise who will speak to students on the organization’s vision and the Management Trainee program- what the program entails, why you should aspire to work at Tanzania’s leading bank, and the application process to name a few.
