Sports in the workplace can be an oxymoron. Corporate living usually entails an 8:00am to 5:00am working hours and sometimes even longer hours. So where does one find time to incorporate sports in their daily lives? While it might be hard, at NMB, wellness is something that is very much encouraged to all employees.

The Human Resources Department at the bank strongly supports extra-curricular activities especially sports. The bank supports all its employees to go for exercise after working hours and endorses the Basketball, Football, Netball teams and Jogging Club. All this is done to ensure that we not only have a productive workforce but also one that takes care of their health through exercises.

On 6th April, International Sports Day for Development and Peace is celebrated across the globe. Sports is often seen as a tool for uniting people from different backgrounds and nations; bringing together people to enjoy and celebrate each other’s talents. An escape from the realm of corporate life where we sit for long periods of time without moving, therefore exercising and participation in sports is good for mental awakening, building physical strength and sparking creativity.

This Sports Day, our NMB Football Team played a friendly match with Azam Veterans at Chamazi Complex, NMB Basketball played against Don Rua and NMB Jogging Club did a 10km run with Fanja Jogging Club and EFM Jogging Club. Indeed, it was a day that brought us together with our business partners and those we engage together with in the community (Don Rua, Fanja Jogging Club and EFM Jogging Club).

Although International Sports Day is an event that is held once every year; sports is part of our everyday lives.
